R2 Steps Down As Host For Windy Jams
When the electrons cease to flow electronic gear is soon to go!
On August 19th I shut off the amps and started rolling up cords. I never even finished the time slot. After donating my weekends to Open Mic Jams for over two years I was at a point where I just couldn't take the constant, trademark kvetching anymore and I was done.
Michael can't afford the electric bill any longer even though energy saving protocols were actively engaged as far as operating the jam gear went. "The tip jar's light and the register's low..." as James McMurtry says in his song We Can't Make It Here Anymore.
Acoustic jams on Saturday night is what we're talking about now since no electrons are required to do that and we do have battery powered recorders.
Since I have had only one weekend "off" in over two years I have had enough dealing with gigging in public every weekend for a while. I'll be working on some personal musical projects in the near future & wrapping up some recording projects that have been on the back burner for far too long.
Since I have never been paid a penny for this domain or its hosting ever, I shall keep it to archive some of the jams that went down and to, hopefully, continue to promote the talent that created that music.
Perhaps it will also serve as a place for people to share their experiences at the Windy Ridge Saloon as well.
Thanks for the memories, y'all!
